LESBOS. Mytilene. Circa 478-455 BC. Hekte (Subaeratus, 10 mm, 2.18 g, 9 h), a contemporary plated imitation. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. Incuse head of a bull to right. Cf. Bodenstedt 29 and SNG von Aulock 1692 (for prototype). Breaks in plating and with a few scratches, otherwise, good fine.

From the J. M. A. L. Collection, formed between 1970 and 2000, Chaponnière & Firmenich 13, 16 May 2021, 124 (with collector's ticket), previously privately acquired from Münzen & Medaillen AG in 2000.
